Sponsored by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the highly prestigious Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching program recognizes and encourages excellence in teaching in the US and abroad. US elementary and secondary teachers selected for this program will study in an overseas research center or university for a period of three to six months, and will engage in a variety of academic and teaching related experiences. This is a fully funded program. Distinguished Awardees will be required to complete a capstone project of their own design, and will be expected to share information about their experience within their schools and communities upon their return. Applicants must be US citizens in at least their fifth year of full time teaching. Participating countries in the 2010-11 school year are: Argentina, Finland, India, Israel, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Please note that all applicants must have the support of DCPS and the central school administration for 3 to 6 months of paid or unpaid leave. Applications must be completed online, and are due February 15, 2010.
