Niambi Jarvis
Director, Office on Women's Policy and Initiative
Executive Office of the Mayor, DC Government

Niambi Jarvis’s interest in global education was sparked when she traveled as a Youth Ambassador to Israel while a student at Banneker Academic High School in the District. She later graduated from Howard University for both Undergraduate and Law School, and also studied at Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia. She has extensive experience with spearheading leading edge programs for women and girls in the District of Columbia and nationwide. At OWPI in the Office of the DC Mayor, she has launched the Washington Women's Empowerment Initiative to facilitate private and public partnerships, while providing the District's female population with information and access to resources. Her work to create restorative conferences, workshops and seminars through state-of-the-art media channels for women has connected over 40,000 women across the United States. Niambi’s professional experience also includes affirmative action federal contract compliance, program management, non-profit program development and major information technology rollouts. She sits on the Boards for the America-Israel Friendship League, Afropop and serves on advisory councils with Washington Area Women in Trade and the Washington Area Women’s Foundation Poverty Council. She is a frequent speaker on diversity issues, and has spoken on the UN Millennium Development Goals to leaders in the Middle East, Africa and throughout the Americas.
