Lynn Williams
Director of Community and Leadership Programs, US Holocaust Memorial Museum
Lynn Williams has spearheaded the development of a wide range of educational programs offered locally, nationally, and internationally through the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. Through “Bringing the Lessons Home: Holocaust Education for the Community,” launched in 1994, she has developed long-term partnerships with 20 high schools and middle schools in Washington, DC. As a result, more than 25,000 students, teachers and parents have received special programming and participated in discussions; more than 600 local educators have attended workshops; and more than 200 students have completed internships and served as docents for their peers. She has worked to adapt the “Bringing the Lessons Home” educational model to other states around the country, and has worked collaboratively with the Ghetto Fighters House in Israel to replicate the program for Arab, Druze and Jewish communities in Western Galilee. Among her other programs, Lynn has worked in partnership with local police departments and the FBI to develop training programs for new police recruits and officers, other law enforcement agents, and federal judges. She recently worked with Tennessee partners to develop innovative adult literacy programs using holocaust education. In addition, she has hosted as well as participated in international conferences for students and teachers, and has extensive experience in professional development and international teacher travel programs.
